Epic Adventures
AN EXPERIENCE SHAPED BY THE OCEAN
Kayak along dramatic coastlines, read the ocean and adapt to changing conditions. Trek through remote terrain, camp in the wild and take on real outdoor challenges. Every experience is designed to test your limits and build confidence through action.
MORE THAN A SUMMER CAMP
We believe growth doesn’t come from being told what to do—it comes from experience. In the wild, there are no shortcuts. You learn by facing real conditions, adapting to challenges and discovering your limits. Our role is not to instruct every step but to create an environment where participants can explore, take responsibility and grow through doing.
Confidence, awareness, anticipation and independence are not taught—they are earned.
WE ACTUALLY CAMP
Leaving behind the luxuries of home and sharing a tent with your new coursemates is a fundamental component of the Iwanai Onward experience. As camping is essential to our connection with nature, we embrace all conditions that the outdoors provide. Charcoal grills and fresh Hokkaido produce, fish and meats are stapes of our camp courses.
Our property overlooks the Sea of Japan and Shakotan National Park. Participants enjoy breath-taking sunsets and nights under the stars.
IWANAI
Our adventures encompass the Niseko-Shakotan National Park and greater South Western Hokkaido. Established in 1963, this national park is the collection of the Raiden Mountain Range, the Niseko Volcanic Group and the Shakotan Peninsula and Marine Preserve. Our program utilizes these pristine landscapes on foot, by bike and sea kayak. The preservation and upkeep of the wilderness is the mark of every adventure.
AN ENGLISH SANCTUARY
All of our courses are administered in English, providing non-native speakers with a secondary educational opportunity and native speakers with a language sanctuary.
In pursuit of pushing boundaries, we accept students with all levels of English ability. Our staff are fully committed to supporting these students who have taken on this additional challenge.
GETTING HERE
Iwanai is approximately 2 hours from Sapporo and about 2.5 hours from Sapporo New Chitose Airport. We encourage participants to make their own way to Iwanai as navigation is a valuable skill to develop.
For those traveling from other parts of Japan or from abroad, we can arrange a group pick-up from the airport on the morning of your first day. Please contact us for more information.
