COASTAL TOUR

Join us as we explore one of Hokkaido's first coastal settlements.  Visit fishing villages trapped in time, where the way of life has remained untouched for generations.   Then head to the local fishers museum and eat what locals consider to be the best sushi in southern Hokkaido.  Our coastal cultural tour of the Shakotan peninsula will show you a lesser-known and vibrant Hokkaido.                    Season: Year-round   

TEMPLE TOUR

Iwanai's lengthy history has blessed this area with a wide range of unique temples and shrines to explore.  Learn about Hokkaido's history, and Buddhist culture and explore hidden Hokkaido.  Our tour will take you to a variety of locations showcasing historical art and beautiful architecture.  Destinations include the Hydrangea Temple, The Buddha Temple, Iwanai Shrine, and the Za Zen Art temple Season: All Year

SHRINE FEST

Generations of culture, tradition, and ritual are on full display throughout Iwanai village in three full days of action. This sleepy port town wakes up as the lurking Tengu or "heavenly dog” parades around, bringing good fortune to the townspeople and businesses.  Join us for a day or all three, as each is filled with unique rituals and traditions that will surely strike your curiosity. Season: July 7th-9th 

UNI FEST

The annual Kamoenai Port Festival is an excellent opportunity to experience a truly local event.  Few foreigners know about this festival.   Celebrate a rich fishing history with the locals; the day includes classic Hokkaido song and dance.  In addition to frolicking with locals, you’ll taste some of the best sea urchins on the planet, which is the specialty of this event.  Don't wait to book as the sea urchin must be preordered and sells out quickly!
