HOKKAIDO POWDER

Hokkaido is renowned for its unrivaled snow conditions. Throughout the winter season, powerful Siberian storms sweep across the Sea of Japan, generously blanketing our slopes with pristine white snow.  With an impressive average accumulation of 15 meters per year, this light and fluffy snowfall resembles gentle feathers descending from the heavens. Unlike Niseko, our exclusive location allows you to carve through untouched terrain all day long, enjoying the thrill of first tracks.

To experience the ultimate bliss of untracked powder, our snowcat service provides unparalleled access.  The specific terrain and number of runs may vary depending on factors such as weather, avalanche conditions, and the group's skill level.  However, on an average day, each exhilarating run offers a vertical descent of 450-680 meters, ensuring an unforgettable skiing experience.  With 6-9 epic runs at your disposal, prepare to immerse yourself in the sheer joy of Hokkaido's remarkable powder paradise.

THE DAY-TRIPPER

If needed, a courtesy pick-up can be arranged from your accommodation in Niseko. Upon arrival at Iwanai Resort, a safety briefing is conducted and we'll set you up with beacons. By 9:00 am, the Iwanai Experience has begun and you're in the deep. We have a variety of terrain that we'll explore, including wide-open former course runs, old-growth glades, and long, steep bowls. We serve hot coffee and homemade sweets on the CAT. For lunch, feel free to order anything from our excellent Three Birds Restaurant, offering both Japanese and Western cuisine. The afternoon brings new terrain as we explore the many faces of Iwanai. As we ramp up the laps and the legs start to burn, we often get a fantastic sunset over the Sea of Japan on our way down the last run, around 3:30 pm.

APRÈS

Après typically kicks off at 3:30 as you find your way off the mountain. Enjoy some freshly prepared appetizers, warm your body with hot sake, or sip a frothy Sapporo. As we turn up the volume, shoot a game of pool or enjoy a variety of local Japanese whiskeys. Watch the sun gradually set over the bay. Like any respectable Japanese bar, we keep going as long as you’d like to stick around. For guests staying on the mountain, you are welcome to enjoy your time as long as you'd like. However, if you are a day tripper, please note that the duration of the party may be shortened if other participants in the shuttle need to return to Niseko.

TRANSPORTATION

If you have your own means of transportation, we recommend making your own way to Iwanai. As we continuously work to refine our courtesy shuttle service, there is always a chance of extended pick-up and drop-off times due to logistics, weather or unexpected situations. By arranging your own transportation, you'll be free to explore Iwanai at your own pace and take advantage of the local hot springs and exquisite sushi options available in the area.

Our courtesy shuttle is specifically tailored for Niseko day trippers, offering a convenient morning pick-up and evening drop-off service from Kutchan, Hanazono, Hirafu, and Niseko Village. Should you decide to depart early, we can gladly assist in arranging a taxi for you, although the cost would be at your own expense.
